Richard Eduardo Pavón Bermúdez

On April 19th, 2018, protests against the government’s announcement of Social Security reforms began at the Tipitapa–Masaya junction. Later the protesters went to the area near the Social Security office, the entrance of the La Modelo prison, and later to the Municipal Government buildings. As they approached, members of the Sandinista Youth and pro-government groups attacked the protestors. At around 6:30pm, Richard Eduardo Pavón Bermúdez was about 30 meters away from the Municipal Government buildings when he was shot multiple times in the thorax, arm, face and neck, causing his death. The family filed a formal complaint with the police, however no information regarding any investigations has been provided to date.
