Alex Enrique Machado Vásquez (El burrito)
On July 5, 2018, the government implemented what it called “Operation Clean-Up” in León’s Sutiaba neighborhood, attacking the independent anti-government protesters with firearms. At around 9:30 am, Alex Enrique Machado Vásquez was positioned at the barricade at the El Alacrán corner when he was wounded by gunfire. His captors loaded him into a patrol truck and half a block away he was finished off inside the police vehicle. The attackers took his lifeless body to the morgue at the Oscar Danilo Rosales Hospital.
According to his family, the body had nine bullet wounds: three in his head, three in his abdomen and three in his sides.
